In 1881, 15 year old Kate Shelley, apparently crawled across a badly damaged bridge in the middle of a horrible storm to warn an oncoming train that the bridge was out. The bridge dates back to 1901 and is rumored to be her ghost's home. Phantom train rides have also been seen and heard at the location. The Highway 24 Ghost is rumored to be an escaped slave who died in the 1860s of diphtheria and was buried in a nearby home's basement. The ghost that haunts this bridge is said to love chocolate and it has been said that if you bring her an unopened chocolate bar at midnight and lay it in the center of the bridge, and leave. After 5 minutes, it has been said that the chocolate will be missing from the inside but the wrapper still intact and unopened. The bridge is closed to automotive traffic.
