It is believed that in the early 1830s, a man named Lou Millville became friends with the Native Americans that lived nearby, especially the chief’s daughter White Cloud. Lou had followed two braves into the woods one day to find out where some of the local lead mines were. While doing this, he was found, captured and ordered to jump off a cliff. He attacked his captors instead of jumping and forced them over the cliff before losing consciousness. When he came to, White Clouds moccasins were found next to him. She had taken her shoes off before jumping off the cliff. Lou found her body and he buried here on the cliff.
