This cemetery is rumored to be haunted and those that enter have experienced an unexplained ringing in their ears and the feeling of cobwebs draped over their faces. It has been said that these sensations only get stronger when approaching a certain grave, one that has a headstone carved from part of a tree. The local legend says that the tree was once used for hangings.
I visited Calvary in July 2016. When my daughter had to use the restroom, I told my husband to take her to a nearby gas station. I am a genealogy buff and was searching for my ancestors said to be buried here. I began my search for my great great great grandfather. I walked to the area to the right of the entrance gate and detected the smell of something dead. The smell seemed to follow me. Could have been a dead animal, but it made my visit very creepy.Posted 12/30/18
