Larsen Hall - Luther College
Decorah, IA 52101
This hall's third floor is rumored to be haunted by a ghost named Gertrude who enjoys pulling fire alarms and hiding students' things, or replacing their clothing with old-fashioned versions. She is believed to be a student of the college who was hit and killed by a car while riding her bicycle on West Broadway back in 1918, right before her first term at the school would have started. The ghost of a woman in high heels has also been heard walking down the hallways of the health service building.

Yes, there is an entity there but it is evil. I lived on the third floor of Larsen Hall last year. I used a Ouija Board twice and there is definitely a malevolent spirit. Not only did I feel cold spots when using the Ouija Board but I've also experienced lights flickering when I wasn't using the Ouija Board. When I used the Ouija Board the second time an overwhelming sense of fear hit me. I'd recommend living in a newer hall if you can.

I lived on the third floor my senior year. Never had any kind of ghostly experiences. Also, women were not students at Luther College until the 1930s; “Gertrude” could not have been a student there in 1918.
