Calvary Cemetery
Sioux City, IA 51102
This cemetery is rumored to be haunted and those that enter have experienced an unexplained ringing in their ears and the feeling of cobwebs draped over their faces. It has been said that these sensations only get stronger when approaching a certain grave, one that has a headstone carved from part of a tree. The local legend says that the tree was once used for hangings.

We had just entered the northwest corner of the cemetery when we were looking for the sign for the section. I first shined my light within the first 10 minutes of being there and the sign was not for the Golgotha section but within seconds we saw a full gray man running at a full Sprint past us at about 10 ft away from us not looking at us but looking straight ahead running. within 5 seconds it's slowly turned from a full gray apparition into a mist running from the left to the right off to the east. we were there that night looking for Tommy boland's grave and successfully found it about 45 minutes later and hung out there for about half an hour as we were leaving we noticed that I was walking by where we saw the apparition when we arrived there was a fresh grave dug where The apparition must have been running towards and disappeared into a misst ... We plan on making a return trip within the next few weeks to find out if there is a headstone on that freshly marked grave to find out who that man may have been it was not a scary experience overall it was just more of a experience that neither my wife or I thought we would ever come across in our lives and in the end of the day we are glad we did. Very mind blowing and life-changing.

I visited Calvary in July 2016. When my daughter had to use the restroom, I told my husband to take her to a nearby gas station. I am a genealogy buff and was searching for my ancestors said to be buried here. I began my search for my great great great grandfather. I walked to the area to the right of the entrance gate and detected the smell of something dead. The smell seemed to follow me. Could have been a dead animal, but it made my visit very creepy.
